Some of the earliest brewers were women and in that spirit of past is present, Oakshire has partnered with the Cascade Brewers Society to host a Teach a girl/woman/mom/daughter to brew day! Five brewing stations will be set up with women at the helm discussing technique, best practice and why they choose to brew beer. The event will be held at Oakshire on Saturday, March 5th from 10am-4pm. Bring your note pad, a list a questions and your observation glasses.

Did you make it to the 2011 KLCC brewfest? For nearly two decades the Eugene area brewers have been collaborating on a special beer for the annual KLCC brewfest. This year, we all made a very sessionable pale ale made with a single malt, Glen Eagle Marris Otter. Each beer also just had a single hop, which was chosen by the brewer. At Oakshire we loaded up on Mt Hood Hops. Each beer was fermented by the breweries' house yeast and the goal was to make a beer that came in under 5%abv.

Oakshire Brewing has partnered with the fun folks at Willamette Animal Guild (WAG). We made a small batch of Red Ale named Spay it Forward. WAG is an incredible organization known for their spay and neuter project that provides affordable spay and neuter services for residents in the Eugene area. Join us as we help to support this great group on Saturday, February 19th from 6-9pm. Bingo, Oakshire Pints, toe tapping music by the Bittersweet Moonshine Band and great snacks. Grab your favorite crazy pet adoring friends and head on down to the Sons of Norway Lodge for a fun evening supporting WAG.

Join us for another one of our beer and cheese pairing classes on Thursday, February 17th. Similar format to our other Oakshire classes where we will pick six cheeses and six beers to taste and compare. Each class has a special guest and ours is the owner of Sixteen Tons beer and wine shop, Mike Coplin who will be on hand to discuss beer, cheese, and how to best enjoy both.

Howdy fellow funsters. Join Oakshire staff and friends of the brewery at Hoodoo this weekend for Telefest 2011. The event begins on Saturday with registration at 8:30am. It is a day of skiing, costumes, dancing, big air competition, drinking great Oakshire beer and communing with others who enjoy sliding on snow! Stay once the lifts have closed for movies, an apres ski dance party sponsored by Oakshire,and a fun night of camping in the lovely outdoors.

Join Oakshire staff as we indulge in five beers and five different chocolates. The class will cover pairing methodology, chocolate history and production, and of course beer! Brewmaster Matt Van Wyk will talk about his favorite pairing techniques and provide more information on Oakshire barrel aging beer program. Class participants will receive a 20% discount on any Oakshire merchandise purchased that day. Sign up early, this class is limited to 16 spots and they usually go quick.
