Catching up with Oakshire Brewing

The new 80 bbl tank is full. Collaborative Evil is in the tank. The new keg washer showed up. 200 Microstar kegs showed up. Jeff is headed to Portland Monday to see our new bottle labels on the press and bring them back. We sponsored a blood drive today at the brewery. I gave Blood. For those who don't make there living brewing beer, the above may mean nothing to you. To us at Oakshire, it is huge! Let me explain: As you read in the last post, we installed a new tank that takes 5 batches to fill. Joe and I spent about 33 hours brewing around the clock to fill it. This is gives us a huge amount of fermentation space and greatly reduces some pressure we have had to have all of our beers available at one time. The batch we made will be used for the second round of bottling (first round starts this Thursday).

Many of you have not heard, mainly because I have been waiting for a hole in the production schedule to unvail it-but we have been working on a collaboration project in the last couple months. Last year at Flossmoor Station, I did a Collaboration With Todd Ashman of Fifty Fifty Brfewing and Zac Treimert, now of Lucky Bucket Brewing. The three of us have expanded our reach this year and included a total of 9 brewers in this years rendition. We are making a Belgian Golden Strong Ale. Each beer will be similar in recipe with some unique ingredient, making it different and eligible to compete in the GABF. PLUS, this year, we have been given a saloon at GABF where the 9 of us will pour our beer for the patrons. Those of you heading to Denver in late September, look forward to trying all of our collaboration beers. Our version, made with Piloncillo sugar, pictured above, should be in the 8-9% abv range and will be availbale in EArly AUgust. Most of it will end up in Pinot barrels to age for a bit, but a couple of kegs will be at select locations.I'll do my best to keep everyone up to date. Bear with the delays-and head to your local bottle store for our beers starting Friday. And if you don't see them in Eugen or Corvallis, ask for it.
